GT7 x Dior, a prestigious collaboration
Among the games that made a lot of noise at the beginning of the year, Gran Turismo 7 is clearly part of the lot. Long awaited by automotive simulation enthusiasts, the title was initially very well received by the press for its return to its origins, its driving pleasure and its still very pleasant single player mode. However, a few weeks after the game’s release, the title encountered connection problems that prevented players from accessing it while the rewards obtained in the race were reduced, which did not satisfy the community. After several updates to correct the situation, things are gradually returning to normal after this tense period where the game received a 2.0 out of 10 user rating on Metacritic.
Away from this situation, Gran Turismo 7 returns to talk about him today with an unexpected collaboration to say the least. Announced during the 2022 Gran Turismo World Series to be held on Saturday 30 July, Gran Turismo 7 will host a new Dior ensemble designed by Kim Jones, artistic director of the brand’s men’s collections. The pack will therefore consist of a De Tomaso Mangusta, a personalized vintage car, as well as a yellow and gray overalls with reinterpreted Diorizon shoes.. Of course, there are iconic elements of the brand such as oblique Dior motifs, designer Christian Dior’s initials (CD) and a “Christian Dior Atelier Avenue Montaigne” patch. Finally, the number 47 is featured on both the driver’s silhouette and the racing car to pay homage to the first Christian Dior show which took place in 1947. Thus, this Dior ensemble can be obtained for credits in the legendary 25 car garage. August.
Luxury and video games, more links than you think
If the collaboration between video games and luxury brands may seem surprising at first glance, it is not the first time that these worlds meet. Remember, at the time of Final Fantasy XIII’s release around 2009-2010, Lighting, the game’s heroine, had been Louis Vuitton’s muse for several photos. A few years later, the French luxury brand renewed its operation with League of Legends by offering both real clothes inspired by the Riot game world, as well as in-game skins. Finally, more recently, we can mention Fortnite, which has teamed up with Balenciaga for a collection. Like that, between video games and luxury, this could be the beginning of a fruitful collaboration …
